NEWKD Rural Men’s Outing

NEWKD Rural Mens Group outing in association with Tri na Cheile Men’s Group Castlegregory.  The group visited the Kerry County Museum on Monday 9th June.

Kerry County Museum holds in trust, collects and cares for artefacts related to the county of Kerry and its people. The collection consists of approximately 4,000 artefacts dating from the stone age through to the late twentieth century. Each of these tells a story about the people of Kerry. The Museum actively collects suitable artefacts and these are usually acquired through donation or reporting of archaeological finds.

Our Main Gallery is home to priceless archaeological objects, impressive life-size dioramas, exquisitely crafted models and informative wall displays that narrate the story of Kerry’s people and landscape from the earliest times up until the 20th Century.

The Museum collects, records, preserves, displays, and communicates material relating to the archaeological, historical and cultural heritage of County Kerry. It is a designated repository under the National Monuments Act and has a strong and varied collection of approximately 4,000 objects. KCM was awarded Full Accreditation from the Heritage Council’s Museum Standards Programme for Ireland in 2013.

Another great day was had by all with much knowledge and information gained and of course followed up with a light snack at Wild Café.
