On Thursday 26th of May, NEWKD YEI Service held a Bar & Restaurant Skills Taster Day in conjunction with MTU Culinary Arts.
A group of Job Seekers was given a tour and overview by Head of Department, T.J. O’Connor. The group then took part in an interactive and informative skills workshop with Hospitality Lecturer, Ronan Doyle. They learned how to make and serve mocktails, speciality coffees to name a few things. Everyone learned something new on the day and got a chance to test their skills.
Further short taster days and training are planned for early June and a longer part time course, in conjunction with John Moriarty, Rural Food Skillnet and MTU are planned for September.
